The North West Cambridge site has had to pass a number of important milestones to get to this stage. The chart below gives you an overview of our progress to date.

Cambridge City Council reviews its Local Plan for future development in the City |
| 2005 |
University consults on an initial master plan for the site |
| 2006 |
Cambridge City Council’s new Local Plan proposes development on that part of the site that falls within Cambridge. This is upheld following a Public Examination on the Local Plan. |
| 2006-2008 |
Cambridge City Council and South Cambridge District Council jointly prepare an Area Action Plan (AAP) for the North West Cambridge site |
November 2008
– June 2009 |
Independent examination of the draft AAP by Planning Inspectors, following public consultation on the proposals. A revised footprint is considered as part of the Examination Hearing. |
| August 24th 2009 |
Inspectors publish their report supporting the revised Area Action Plan proposals and the development footprint. |
| November 2009 |
The University holds public exhibitions as the Master plan is refined. Local people are invited to attend and contribute their views on the project. There is also a public workshop where local people can work with the project team to examine some of the key issues. |
| December 2009 |
A report of key findings from the consultation is published and these are taken forward to help inform the master planning process. |
| January - July 2010 |
Further revision of Masterplan, including comments and suggestions from the November 2009 public consultation. |
| June - July 2010 |
Further round of public consultation. Two further public exhibitions are held in Cambridge for local people to see the revised Masterplan and contribute their views on the project. |

Green Paper of full proposals submitted to University for approval. |
