In June 2014, a small house-warming event was held at Gravel Hill Farm to celebrate the development team's new home on the site. Additionally, construction work on Lot 6, the Primary School began in November 2014 and was marked by a visit from the Vice-Chancellor of the University and Headteacher of the School.
In September 2015, the first building opened to the public. The University of Cambridge Primary School opened to some 110 pupils in Reception and Years 1 and 2 who occupied a portion of the iconic circular building. The remainder of the school building was completed fully on time and on budget in December 2015. September 2015 also saw the start on site of the construction of the Community Centre when the Vice-Chancellor joined the team and representatives from the local authorities on site. The first of the market housing developers received planning permission for the first 240 homes which will complement the 700 University homes in the first phase of development.
