In preparation for the first phase of the North West Cambridge Development, The University of Cambridge is planning to appoint a team of complementary architectural and landscape firms for its ambitious new urban extension.

The University of Cambridge and Colander are running a competition to identify architects for the first phase of the project which, subject to planning consent, will begin in 2012. This initial phase will consist of seven building Lots and two landscape Lots including a variety of residential units, a food store and further retail spaces, a nursery and a range of other community facilities such as a community hall, as well as public realm and parks.

Interested architectural practices must be able to demonstrate:

Exceptional design talent

A commitment to innovative, sustainable design

A proven ability to deliver both creativity and the highest possible value to their clients

Satisfied clients for whom they have solved similar challenges

The skills needed to deliver a project of this nature.

In addition they will be expected to meet minimum criteria for commercial robustness and staffing levels.

Further information and details of how to take part can be found at: www.colander.co.uk/developers/nwcd.html.  This competition is being managed, on behalf of the University by Colander and all enquiries should be directed to nwcd@colander.co.uk.

Please note, the architectural competition has now closed.
