Welcome to the website for the University of Cambridge’s North West Cambridge Development.

North West Cambridge is the largest single capital development project that the University has undertaken in its 800-year history. The £1 billion investment in the multi-phased series of capital development assists in meeting the long-term growth needs of the University.

Outline planning permission for the masterplan was granted to the University by the local authorities in February 2013 for the mixed-use development on University farmland in the north west quadrant of Cambridge to create an extension to the city. In January 2013, the University’s governing body, Regent House, gave formal approval for Phase One of the development.

Throughout the planning and development process, the University has consulted with a range of stakeholders to ensure that the plans are reflective and sensitive to the needs of the existing community in anticipation of the future residents and users. We have been extremely grateful for many of the views shared and as detailed planning applications are submitted throughout 2013, we will continue to welcome your thoughts as part of the process.

As work starts onsite, there will be opportunities for you to learn more about the development and in some instances visit. We have a new section of our website which has details of events which may interest you.

Please sign up for news from the development (using the newsletter signup form in the right-hand sidebar) and please do continue to visit our website to find out more about the news, events and plans.
